Antonio Enrique Álvarez [AL-vah-rez] (born May 10, 1979 in Caracas, Venezuela) is a Major League Baseball outfielder and right-handed batter who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2002 and 2004.
At 25, Álvarez was considered one of the top ten Pirates prospects both by Baseball America and ESPN. He was signed by the Chicago White Sox as a free agent before the 2005 season, but failed to make the big league club. He played for the Ottawa Lynx, the Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles in 2006. In 2007, Álvarez signed with Brother Elephants of CPBL (Taiwan).
Álvarez is a .250 hitter with two home runs and 10 RBI in 38 Major League games. His baseball career did not pan out as well as planned.
On December 3, 2005, Álvarez married Venezuelan actress Mariangel Ruiz, who was Miss Venezuela 2002.
